They quoted us for perimeter fencing, conifer management, to pollard a rather complex oak with various sets of live cables running through, plus an eco compound. Being a keen buyer by trade, their rates were favourable against others, so we went ahead with the works. As it turned out Dave and Steve who came to site carried out impeccable works, professionally, safely, neatly and to the time as stated. They project managed the whole scheme liaising with the electricity suppliers arranging for a power shutdown to carry out safe working whilst cutting the oak, just leaving the customer to pay the agreed bill. Over the past four years, David has been employed by me to undertake a range of tasks at our Farm Park including such things as tree felling, branch removal, scrub clearance, tree prunning and general countryside maintenance work. Certain tasks have been difficult and have required him to climb the tree to cut it down in sections. All of the tasks have been satisfactorily and safely completed. The wood has been cut up and neatly stacked and brushwood put into convenient piles for burning or removal. The sites have always been left clean and tidied up afterwards. David Kenworthy is in charge of all the tree and hedge work at the International Centre for Birds of Prey and I am delighted to be able to say that. He is unfailingly hard working and always discusses any work that needs to be done before getting on with it. He is able to bring in assistants for tasks that need two people, and is, as is so important these days very aware of the health and safety issues particularly pertinent to felling trees, pruning and so on. He sees the balance in trees well and is able to leave them looking good and well after any pruning that needs doing. He is also very aware of trees that might be potentially difficult or dangerous, which is vital with a place open to the public. In August 2008 Evolution Trees were invited to cut the hedges and several trees on our site. There are two considerably long hawthorn hedges on the perimeter of our site and an even longer inner laurel hedge which borders the landscaped garden area and buildings belonging to the business.As this work took place over two successive weekends there was no one on site to oversee the project and so David Kenworthy was left to his own devices. On returning to work on the following Monday morning we were amazed at the amount of work that had been done and how superb the hedges now looked. They were at the correct height – smooth with well shaped sides and tops and all the waste material had been removed from the site completely. Two trees had been removed and there was no sign left of where they originally stood – a great job and very well done. The charge made for this work was very competitive and reasonable: we were extremely impressed with the work carried out and will have no hesitation in recommending Evolution Trees to other businesses. We have already passed on details to several individuals who have remarked on how good our hedges now look.
