About Forest Traders
Forest Traders was set up by Jo Davies-Raynor and launched in August 2012 as a place for businesses of all sizes to advertise themselves, at a price they could afford. With over 8 and half years under our belt, our site is now the “go to” place for local businesses and services in the area, averaging at over 1,400 visits per month.
The idea of Forest Traders came during the recession. Being local herself, Jo watched family and friends businesses crumble under the lack of work and resources to advertise within their budgets. Sadly with no advertising platforms came no work and with no work, many businesses couldn’t survive and closed down. Wanting to try and help as much as she could, Jo launched Forest Traders in a bid to help these businesses ride the storm. It created a space where local people could find the information they needed, at any time of the day and it very quickly established itself as something new in the area. Fast forward almost 9 years and its still going strong with a lot of happy customers as a result.
We welcome all businesses to join us, both who trade from inside and outside of the Forest. We appreciate there are “invisible” borders surrounding us for not only different Counties but a different Country too and that means it isn’t always viable to use a business if they are the other end of the area. All of the businesses listed on Forest Traders provide a service into the The Forest of Dean it’s a criteria for them to join.
